GradeSlam has started its second week of FounderFuel, an intensive, mentor-driven Accelerator program run by Real Ventures. If you'd like some context, check out yesterday's post!

Thoughts on Day 7 from the Founder & CEO of GradeSlam, Phil Cutler:

This morning was good. Monday is always a busy day. It’s the beginning of the week and a lot of students are stressed out, making it a great time to push our initiative.

The morning started with a FounderFuel session on an optional 150K convertible note from BDC. How it works is if you graduate and are deemed “venture ready” you are eligible for a $150,000 convertible note (convertible at 3.5M). The FF crew & BDC spent some time explaining the details and criteria surrounding the BDC program.

Next was lunch. The FounderFuel program coordinators ordered Indian which was delicious.

In the early afternoon we had a team meeting and set our goals for the week. These included some stretch goals that we really want to hit from a sales standpoint. We talked back and forth for a while and although we may not hit our stretch target this week, we think that soon sign-ups will come in a giant wave. We’ve been pushing hard.

Back at the Sacred office, the development team had a meeting and worked on hiring. Our new hire has been doing some great work managing our tutors and creating a google spreadsheet to streamline all of their information and scheduling.

In the afternoon I took care of some HR business. The GradeSlam team will be growing VERY soon. We’re really excited (keep an eye on the “Team” recap at the bottom of the page - the number will be changing soon!).

Finally, I finished off the day doing some tutoring myself on our platform. Having studied education, I enjoy doing a bit of tutoring here and there, but from a business standpoint I think it’s also extremely important to never be too far removed from the experience as a student or as a tutor.
