Calling all Gryphons! The University of Guelph is truly one of the best universities in Canada (but you already know this I’m sure). For any prospective students out there, take a look at this list and be reassured that the University of Guelph is a fantastic place to spend the next four year.

1. The Science Program

Guelph’s science program is second to none. They are the only university in Canada to have a College of Biological Science, they have an amazing Human Anatomy program, AND they just built a brand new Science Complex with state-of-the-art facilities. If you’re a science student, you’re in good hands.

2. The Food

Guelph is known for it’s incredible food on campus. It has continually won best campus food in Canada for several years in a row. With vegan, halal, gluten-free, and local options, you really can’t go wrong. And of course, there are the food carts (Bob’s Dogs being one of the most popular - for the food, but also for the owner, Bob Izdebskiego).

3. The Arboretum

That’s right, Guelph has their very own arboretum located on campus. Perfect for a run or a picnic on a sunny day, there is no shortage of green space on campus. Johnston Green is another great spot to hang out on a beautiful day.

4. Puppies on Campus

Yes, that is correct. Due to guide dog training that occurs on campus, adorable puppies are often spotted walking around campus. If that won’t cheer you up during exam season, I don’t know what will.

5. Old Jeremiah

Old Jeremiah (otherwise known as the cannon) is a famous University of Guelph campus monument. Situated right in the centre of campus, the cannon is constantly being painted with anything from a dragon to a flower by various clubs, teams, and students on campus.

6. Aggie Pubs

The University of Guelph is known for it’s Agricultural College and “Aggies” are the nickname given to students of this college. If you have an Aggie friend it’s likely you’ve been invited along to an Aggie pub. Hosting a different theme every week, Aggie pubs are known as some of the most fun places on campus.

7. Old Campus Buildings

The Guelph campus is a great mix of new buildings (like the Science Complex mentioned above) and old, Hogwarts-esque buildings (like War Memorial Hall for example). There’s a great balance between the two...even if having a class in War Memorial Hall is the absolute worst.
