There are so many things that make OSU amazing, but the number 1 thing has to be the sense of community on campus. Even once you graduate, that Buckeye legacy will follow you everywhere. After all, once a Buckeye always a Buckeye. Check out 6 reasons there’s nothing you’d rather be than an Ohio State Buckeye!

1. BuckeyeThon

BuckeyeThon is an absolutely incredible student-run philanthropic organization at OSU. Holding events such as the Miracle Miles 5K, the Homecoming Parade, and a Fashion Show, BuckeyeThon is always coming up with fun and unique fundraisers to hold on campus. And the best part is all the proceeds go towards children and families of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

2. Athletics

This won’t come as a surprise, but OSU is known for its sports teams and athletics facilities. In fact before attending OSU, I bet many students hadn’t heard much about the school aside from its sports prowess. The Buckeye varsity teams have won a total of 26 NCAA titles! If you’re interested in a joining a sports team (whether varsity or intramural), or you just love watching sports, OSU is a great place to be!

3. Buckeye Spirit

Going back to the introduction, the Buckeye spirit is simply intoxicating. Wherever you go, if you shout “O-H,” you’re guaranteed to get an “I-O” shouted back at you (enthusiastically, I might add). The Buckeye spirit creates a strong sense of campus community that is all too rare at large colleges.

4. Student Organizations

With a big university comes opportunity. And the student organizations at OSU are a prime example of this. With over 1,000 student organizations on campus, there literally is something for everyone. From intramural basketball to ballroom dancing to Quidditch to Greek life, there are a myriad of ways to get involved!

5. Diversity of the Student Body

This is one of the best aspects of OSU, because honestly, you won’t find this much diversity anywhere else in Ohio (or in many other states for that matter). Though you might think the majority of students come from Columbus, this actually isn’t true. You’ll find students from all over Ohio, from all over the U.S. and even from all over the world! It’s a great place to be exposed to different cultures and meet people from all over.

6. Columbus

Columbus is truly a great city in which to attend college. It’s one of the largest cities in the U.S., is home to major league sports teams (go Clippers!), boasts cuisine from all over the world, has amazing theatres and museums, and of course, has one of the best zoos in the country. I hope you’ve visited the Columbus Zoo at least once since starting at OSU.
